One of the projects I worked on for British Airways was to take some of there existing engineering documentation and place them into a digital format. The final outcome would mean that engineers could access the information on there tablets through an application with built in search functions.
Along with the information in the documentation they also wanted to update a number of diagrams to make them appear more visually appealing but also clearer to understand.
This also included a few animations, one of which you can see in the example below. Creating the engine was a nice little challenge. The brief was to replicate the engine to a degree that it was visually recognisable as a Rolls Royce engine, but not make it look so busy so that the relevant highlighted parts could be easily noticed.
Out of all the parts I worked on for BA this probably has to be one of the most interesting visual that I worked on. It’s not everyday you get to create a 3D engine for one of the largest air travel companies and get to base the model of there own engineering data.
